Vilamoura Coaches Regatta
At the end of our last winter training camp in Portugal, I took part in the Vilamoura Coaches Regatta. The event was 3 days long and had over 40 entries. The aim of the event was to see how the top sailors from each nation were doing at this stage of the year before the competition season started.
For all three days, we had strong winds and big waves which was a real physical challenge. The event was a huge eye opener for me as it was my first taste of senior fleet racing. In the end I finished 25th overall, which is a promising sign this early on in the year. The highlight of the event was beating five time Olympic Medallist Robert Schiedt in one of the races (see below).
Now it's time to head back to the UK for the World and European Qualifying series.
